SAMHSA 508 Accessibility
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, requires federal agencies to make electronic and information technology (EIT) accessible to persons with disabilities. Their experience should be comparable to the experience of people without disabilities. Exceptions to this policy may be made if it would impose an undue burden upon the agency in question.
At this time, all government information should be accessible via screen readers and other accessibility tools, with the exception of some information from before 2001. This information may not be available in accessible formats. However, if a person with a disability needs such information in an accessible format, federal agencies are required to provide it upon request.
