Native Connections Training and Technical Assistance

Information about technical assistance.

Native Connections grantees are assigned three individuals who provide technical assistance in different areas of the grant. They are:

Government Project Officer (GPO): The GPO will provide programmatic leadership and oversight, monitor project’s activities and progress, provide grant-cycle and due date guidance, review required reports and provide feedback, and oversee SAMHSA’s Performance Accountability and Reporting System (SPARS.)  GPO approval is needed for: project and budget revisions, changes in project scope, key staff changes, and continuation of funds and carryover approval.

Grantee Technical Assistant (GTA): The GTA provides technical assistance on Community System Analysis, Community Readiness Model, strategic action plans, implementing strategic action plans, crisis response, youth at-risk procedures, postvention, and other grant activities. 

SAMHSA Grants Management Specialist (GMS): The GMS provides technical assistance with financial and business matters, getting authorization for funding, program, budget, and personnel changes, and final required reports. When emailing your GMS, include your grant number in the subject line of all e-mails and copy your GPO on all e-mails.
