National Prevention Week Virtual Series
We recognize that prevention happens every day, not just during the second week of May. As such, National Prevention Week is shifting to celebrate and promote these year-round prevention initiatives. SAMHSA created a new, ongoing virtual series to showcase, elevate, and celebrate the important prevention ideas, events, news, and activities that impact communities across the country. The series focuses on spotlighting prevention organizations and cultivating social innovation to address the real needs of our communities and young people.
2024 Virtual Series
SAMHSA and the Prevention Technology Transfer Center Network (PTTC) convened leaders in the prevention field to showcase real-world, innovative initiatives in communities across the United States during the webinar, "Finding Power in Prevention Storytelling." Watch the recording (59 minutes) to see what motivates “preventioneers” to do such amazing work.
2023 Virtual Series
The holiday season can be a difficult time for people struggling with mental health, prevention, and recovery. This Holiday Prevention Flyer features resources to support the prevention community during the holiday season. The flyer showcases resources across community and national prevention organizations and government agencies. From maintaining recovery in the midst of festivities to triggering holiday dynamics to seasonal affective disorder, resources from our partners can help.
SAMHSA kicked off the virtual event series on August 22, 2023. Local and national organizations shared how prevention has affected their communities, why they became involved with National Prevention Week, their upcoming plans for the start of the school year, trending topics in the prevention field, and more!
